DePina Landing is a beautiful, newly rededicated park along the Sippican River off of River Road. Enjoy this lovely wooded picnic area or paddle from the sandy shores of DePina Landing in Marion. This small, town-owned landing is located on the Sippican River near where it meets the Weweantic. It is a beautiful spot for kayakers who want to explore the river’s rich natural habitats.
In 1953 John DePina, a Marion resident and immigrant from Cape Verde, donated a small riverfront property to the town of Marion. In August of 2025 the children and grandchildren of John and Mary DePina, town officials and other community members gathered together to rededicate the property after the DePinas. The park has been revitalized, with new picnic tables, a flag pole, a new kayak rack and a plaque dedicated to the history of the DePina family.
