Community Preservation Committee

The Community Preservation Act is a Massachusetts Law that allows participating cities and towns to adopt a real estate tax surcharge supplemented by State matching funds in order to fund community preservation. Eligible projects must be directed towards: open space/recreation, historic preservation or community housing.

  • January 10, 2026 - A public meeting will be held to review, amend and approve the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) plan and application. The CPC will meet with interested parties to explain the process for submitting project proposals and answer questions.
  • February 20, 2026 - Applications are due by 4:00pm. At this public meeting the CPC will perform an initial review of all applications received and may ask for supporting documentation.
  • March 13, 2026 - A public hearing will be held to perform a final review of all applications.  The CPC will vote to determine which applications will be presented for funding at annual town meeting.
