FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs)

Marion's updated FIRMs became effective on July 17, 2012. The modified flood hazard determinations (FHDs) and revised map panels became effective as of February 5, 2014, and revised the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) that were in effect prior to that date.

These maps show the extent to which areas in Marion are at risk of flooding from the base (1% annual chance) flood. These areas, known as Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHAs), are where floodplain management regulations are enforced and where the mandatory purchase of flood insurance applies.

The Marion Building Department has a set of updated hard-copy maps for Marion. The new maps can also be seen on the FEMA Map Service Center website.

The FIRM Elevation Reference Marks Chart for the 1988 and 1992 FIRMs is included here for engineering and surveying purposes.
