Attorney General Approves Moratorium Bylaw

The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office has approved a new bylaw instituting a temporary ban on Adult Use Marijuana Establishments in Marion. The bylaw was passed by residents at the Special Town Meeting on February 15.

Marion residents voted to approve Article S1, a call for a temporary moratorium on Adult Use Marijuana Establishments.

The bylaw states: The regulation of Adult Use marijuana raises novel legal, planning, and public safety issues. The Town of Marion needs time to study and consider the regulation of Adult Use Marijuana Establishments and address such issues, as well as to undertake a planning process to consider amending the Zoning Bylaw regarding regulation of Adult Use Marijuana Establishments.

The moratorium will remain in effect until December 31, 2018.
